Every year, on my birthday the 5th of May, I use my privilege as the “birthday girl” and ask for a huge favour: to show your support for a cause I care about. Those who know me will know that I care deeply about Children and Education. I have always been deeply involved in Singapore Boys’ Town and the National University of Singapore. I volunteered as a tutor and carried out annual fund-raising campaigns for these organisations with the aim of creating as many scholarships as I could for deserving students. Why? I would have never been able to become who I am today and achieved what I have achieved without these amazing scholarships. This year, I want to do it a little differently. Some friends say that the fund-raising campaigns do not feel personal enough. Some friends just simply want to get me a cup of coffee. So that will be exactly what I am going to ask: get me a cup of coffee (which is USD $3). Those who know me will know that I am not a coffee drinker :P Hence, I will not be able to drink all the cups of coffee you guys buy me. I will drink one nice cup of cappuccino, for sure, and get myself a delicious slice of cheesecake on the side as well. However, for the rest of the coffee that I could not finish, I would like to seek your permission to donate them to an organisation in Canada who is fighting for Children and Education.
