Support Lily

Hello! My name is Lily and I'm a postgraduate student at the University of Edinburgh. I'm studying for an MSc in Medieval Literature, and in September 2018 I will be beginning a PhD in Medieval Studies at the University of Exeter, focusing on late medieval female medicine. But that is only part of why I am here. Owing to severe mental illness as well as physical exhaustion, I took a break from my MSc in March, and will be returning in January 2018. (I have subsequently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a condition involving both chronic pain and chronic fatigue.) As a disabled individual with a new diagnosis - fibromyalgia as well as cerebral palsy, depression, and anxiety - holding down a steady job is currently impossible. As a result, I've delved more deeply into public engagement on social media to explore what I love; I'm a big believer in using Twitter to educate and foster discussion regarding academia, medieval studies, and disability. Additionally, I write fiction and poetry on various subjects - although my favourite genre is queer fantasy. (I'm currently working on a novel involving queer, disabled fae.) If you like the work I do, and you enjoy learning about important topics and a writer's journey into creating new worlds, this page serves as a little tip jar, and will help fund my PhD. <3
