Does anyone ever talk about the day-to-day expenses of biography book research? It seems like an overlooked topic. Maybe I'll write an in-depth piece soon. Until (and undoubtedly after) then, I have an increasingly long list of regular expenses to cover, including subscriptions and materials. It is neverending.
Being a creative is notoriously difficult. Finding inspiration is easy--it's inside AND all around us. Mobilizing and transforming that inspiration into something concrete takes time, effort, luck, perseverance, and, the woe of woes, money. Art rarely pays bills, and paying bills is rarely the basis for making good art. It's an age-old conundrum that doesn't show signs of disappearing any time soon. Any money I earn from Ko-Fi supporters will go towards research expenses: relevant subscriptions (newspapers.com, etc.), books (e and physical), and items for J's archives.
