Antony Carpen

Welcome to my Ko-fi crowd-funding page. My name is Antony Carpen and I am a local historian and community reporter in Cambridge. Long-term chronic illness following both an acute mental health crisis, and a suspected heart attack (the latter involving a stay in Addenbrooke's and Papworth over a Christmas!) means I'm unable to work full time anymore. So I spend many of the hours I can reporting on local democracy - in particular the decisions that shape the future of our city, and also researching our city's past - that of 'the town'. As well as supporting my own living expenses, with enough support I aim to extend commissions I have given to local young musicians, artists, and writers to share the story of our city through the mediums of music, drama, art, and literature. I am a committee member of the Cambridgeshire Association for Local History (https://www.calh.org.uk/membership/) and also a member of the Cambridge Antiquarian Society https://www.camantsoc.org/join-cas/ - membership is open to all. Your support enables me to continue my research, writing, content creation and interviews. You can hear my monthly interviews on a different topic on Cambridge 105 with Alex Elbro on the last Friday of each month around midday. The back catalogue is here https://cambridge105.co.uk/?s=antony+carpen
