Touring/gigging musicians have had all their gigs and festivals cancelled due to covid-19. This is their livelihood, both from gig fees and the opportunity to sell CDs and other merchandise. We don't know when gatherings, including live music, will be allowed to recommence. I cancelled gigs at my bookshop, and would like to start by supporting those musicians - 11 in all across 8 gigs. This is part of the way I would like to help. I am aiming to send £100 to each musician. If I can do this for those ten, I will carry on to support other musicians. Please buy a musician a coffee or two! Our coffees are £5 because they are very good. #MusicMatters UPDATE: we have now had to cancel two more gigs at the Tree House, one at the end of June, one at the end of July. When I started this, no one was sure what was happening, and there was still an outside chance that the July gig at least would happen. We have no further bookings until November, though I am not confident that even our November and December gigs will happen. Anyway, I have increased the total so that I can pay the two further musicians whose gigs are now cancelled, so I am trying to help 13 musicians in all, in a tiny way. The Tree House is about to reopen as a bookshop only, and I hope to do some more fundraising there.
