I have a studio not far from my house where I do all of my traditional art and its my happy place. Having that separate space allows me to get into the zone and be my true self as I create.
MJT Illustration is me, Matthew Trupia. I am originally from New York and I currently live in Mebane, North Carolina. I have been drawing since the age of six and working professionally as a full time illustrator since 2012. I received my Masters in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and my BFA in Media Arts from the University of South Carolina. Since I started doing Inktober three years ago, I have fallen in love with the medium in ways I hadn’t dreamed. Ink is permanent. While this seems obvious, when I approach an illustration with this mindset - I make every mark count. Every line, mistaken or practiced in execution, becomes a part of the story. With this intent in the forefront of my mind, I will work a piece until it becomes something beautiful. No restarts. No giving up. The marks tell the story.
