Through a combination of circumstance and luck, I am extremely fortunate to be planning a field recording trip to Zimbabwe. Zim, as it's often informally referred to, is a country rich in culture and is home to huge wildlife reserves like the 14,600 ㎢ Hwange National Park. This will help cover some of the travel expenses and supporters who pledge $40 will receive the resulting sound effects libraries early! Hi! My name is Chris and I'm a sound designer for games, film, and music, and audio mixing & mastering engineer based in Boston, MA. 2023 marks my 20th year of recording sound, something that I have become more passionate about every single day since first opening a Digital Audio Workstation app at 11 years old. While my background is in music performance and running a recording studio for 8 years, I realized how deep my passion for sound design runs after moving from Germany to the US in 2018. Since arriving here, recording the world around me, sampling instruments, and creating sound libraries has enabled me to experience the world of sound in a more emotional, attentive and wholistic way and really thought me to listen intently. No matter how "mundane" a sound may be, it may hold immense creative potential if you listen closely. I create sound effects libraries for game devs, filmmakers, and fellow sound professionals, craft sampler instruments for musicians, and mix and master music for artists of various genres. Wherever I go, I try to record as much of the sounds around me as I can.
