The Cinderella City Project is an effort to create a realistic, digital simulation of the former Cinderella City Mall in Englewood, Colorado across distinct time periods for an immersive retail and design history experience. The simulation will include three distinct eras: - 1960s/1970s covering the mall's inaugural years, including its fabulous mid-century modern, colorful, and psychedelic design elements - 1980s/1990s covering the mall's post-renovation golden years, including the addition of a basement food court, more skylights and visibility between floors, and the transition to national retail chains - Alternate Future covering a fictional architectural interpretation of the mall's redevelopment, including preserving large sections of the mall as historical exhibits and reimagining the rest of the site in a way that preserves history and character while introducing great new public spaces The final product will be a complete simulation/game that allows switching seamlessly between the above eras, in addition to bonus content like recorded memories from real Cinderella City patrons and photographs through the years, all within the digital mall 3D space. The simulation will be available on Windows, Mac, and a variety of VR hardware, and may also be hosted in an exhibit at the Englewood Public Library in the future. Donations will be used to help purchase new assets for the game (3D people, plants, furniture, cars...) and other software and hardware required to continue developing and polishing the simulation experience.
