There are a number of papers that I would be happy to see published in a journal, including my work on evolutionary dynamics, and research on sex and gender. But I refuse to publish in any journal that keeps the copyright for my own work. Open access allows the author to keep commercial rights to our own work, and prevents our work from being hidden behind paywalls. Sadly, APCs can easily cost upwards of $3K or more.
I'm a polymath and a rōnin scholar. That is to say that I enjoy studying many different topics, even if they don’t seem related, and I do my own research. I am not part of any institution, and have largely rejected academia in its current form. I do have as a minor goal, finishing a M.S. and Ph.D. however I recognize that neither are necessary for research. I focus on getting my ideas out quickly through preprint and other open science methodologies. Some of my research interests are politics, investing and trading, mathematics, including probability theory and statistics, the scientific and historical study of religion and alcohol.
I'm an independent researcher and content creator. Some of my work generates income on its own, but a lot of it improves the public good, and is not immediately marketable. Donations help support my work, including my contribution to scientific research.
