Basics needed: food, petrol, blankets, candles, WATER, firewood.. My godmother leads local community efforts (she is 82 and a trained nurse and 'not leaving in case I can be useful' ) My Dad is almost 70 and 'is staying behind to make molotov cocktails and help fight for our land because we don't just LEAVE' I have dozens of contacts on the ground who have no means to survive unless we can help them directly, not through big NGOs with administrative costs. Every penny goes to the locals.
Dear friends, I was born in Ukraine and lived there while I was in primary school (the cover photo is me in Ukrainian National costume.. seemed fitting). My dad is there. My stepsister is there. Her 2 kids are there. My aunts are there. My grandparents are there. My classmates, teachers, former colleagues, and so many friends are there. On the ground, people are in disbelief. They are paralysed and they are scared to 'evacuate'. They have maybe 0 - $100 savings, and they are scared of leaving their homes to try and escape war. Evacuate where? Most don't have cars or can't get petrol. Many are walking to the polish border. THIS TAKES 20 HOURS ON FOOT. There are now queues at Ukraine <> Poland border with waiting time *over 24 hours*. There's no food. No drink. (read below for more)..

It's insane. Absolutely insane. Please don't ignore this. I am in touch with so many people on the ground, and I have told everyone who needs help 'just use me like a bank, I will raise funding, just get to safety'.
