I grew up in the coalfields of Appalachia in Southwest Virginia among a family of miners, moonshiners, and journalists. I write and sing about my family, their stories, and the stories of our ancestors. I've lived in the wilderness and in America's biggest cities. I've lived in a travel trailer and slept in truck stops for months at a time. I've also lived in a fifth-floor garret apartment in Paris. I'm songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, flatfoot dancer, maker of things, and collector of stuff. I am obsessed with needle and thread. Thank you very much for the coffee (or tea, in my case)!
