I'm Joan Marie Verba. I'm an author, publisher, and web developer. I've had over 40 titles published under my name, and I publish books under the FTL Publications imprint. I'm a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, and the International Association of Media Tie-In Writers. At present, I’m 65 years old and out of work as a web developer. It’s difficult to get a job over 50, and doubly difficult in the tech industry. Prospective employers also have difficulty with my allergies: I’m extremely allergic to dogs and cats, and I have numerous severe food allergies. Apart from book sales (not a large amount), or occasional freelance jobs, I’m currently relying on Social Security, which doesn’t bring in enough to pay my bills.
