Writing about retro video games means needing retro video games to play, especially since I end up covering well over 100 of them per year! Even inexpensive games start to add up after awhile, and there are plenty that, due to limited availability or region-specific releases, cost a bit more. My hope is that donations and tips through Ko-fi from readers willing to help out will allow me to justify, say, importing a 25-year-old Japan-only game that has a hefty shipping cost attached, or a game that's a little pricier because it's on the rare side, or even modern re-release bundles of classic games — I'd of course then play and write about these titles at Retro XP, where everything is free to read, no subscription required.
