This is a simple bass mono-maker utility plugin. Utility has a mono bass option already, but I made this to offer a simple "one-knob" solution, as its nice to look down and see exactly what a device is doing at a glance. I realize my contradiction, as it blossomed into a "two-knob" plugin, so please allow me to explain why: This plugin works by routing the stereo signal into a mid-side matrix. The side channel then passes through a 3rd order crossover filter. This filters out the high frequency information from the side channel, which effectively removes the bass from the stereo image. However, depending on the program material, this could also drastically reduce the overall bass level. The second parameter (X-MS) allows the LPF section of the crossover filter to be routed instead to the mid channel. The default for this parameter is set at unity (0dB), but by reducing this parameter, we can pull back the amount of side-bass signal that we are cross-feeding to the mid channel. The plugin resolves with an MS Decoder stage. Feel free to open up the plugin if you are curious about MS Matrix-ing too, this is a pretty simple one to understand :) ...although it should be noted that as a product of this crossover configuration, the stereo image was reversed. The decoder stage was modified to L=M-S and R=M+S rather than L=M+S and R=M-S to compensate for this.
