Welcome to Issue Four of Path to Chinese! This is a cultural magazine for learners of Mandarin Chinese with articles at HSK levels 1 to 9, and in everyday Chinese. This magazine was the idea of our Chief Editor 肖珂萝 Chloe, and has been brought to life by our team of both native and non-native speakers, with artwork done by our fantastic art team. Our goal is to give you pieces you won’t find in a text book, and help you in your language learning journey. — Each country around the world has its own festival, or its own way of celebrating festivals. Whether it's looking at how Christmas, a western holiday, is celebrated in China, or looking at the Spring Festival, a festival which is deeply immersed in Chinese tradition and culture, reading about festivals can teach you a lot about life in China. Festivals are times in the year when families and communities come together to celebrate. There are only a few times in the year when a family can come together like this, so festivals are very important. Festivals are full of culture and tradition, so we hope that by reading stories and articles about these festivals, you can learn a lot about Chinese culture. In this issue you'll find a variety of articles introducing festivals, stories about things that happened at a particular festival, and stories about characters you may be familiar with from previous issues of our magazine. Happy reading! -- Note: The HSK levels in this issue correspond with the new HSK 3.0 levels
