Do you go to talk therapy and feel like you've been sliced open with a sword and then stapled back together at the end of each session? Just so you know it doesn't have to be like that, nor should it be. My work as a trauma doula grew out of my emotional mapping sessions which is a modality that I developed to help people understand what is really going on in their life. Emotional mapping is like a spirograph for the soul where you brain and heart storm everything that is going on for you and how that makes you feel. Feeling as far as I am concerned is the gateway to healing. Unless we know how we truly feel about something it's very hard to both understand that thing or know what to do about it, even if the answer is nothing. What I do is very different to other talk therapies as my focus is to get to the root cause of the issues that you have as quickly as possible. My prime objective is to get you to a deeper place of understanding so that you can make what might be described as trauma-informed decisions about your life and the way forward. This is bearing in mind that trauma is a physiological condition and that any unwelcome behaviours that you have are coping mechanisms to deal with physiological discomfort. Having the information to make trauma-informed choices about your life can radically transform your personal perception of yourself and your worldview. These changes in perception will give you more freedom to be in the world just as you are and navigate triggering or overwhelming situations safely. This process includes a combination of modalities like deep listening, story writing, constellation work, trauma-informed methodologies and process work. You might even leave with an action plan should that be your wish. Some of the things that I can help you work through are - Unhealthy Attachments i.e toxic relationships Co-Regulation i.e feeling safe in your own body As well as Trauma symptoms like - Panic Hypervigilance Anxiety Depression Adrenal Fatigue and Burnout. I personally equate one three-hour session to an equivalent of six conventional counselling sessions. However, several of my clients have equated them to be more valuable than several years of therapy. I also work in conjunction with other trauma-informed practitioners who offer other more specialised modalities that can address things like visual, sensate and emotional flashbacks.
