CANTARES DE VIDA - FREE in PDF DOWNLOAD scenic recital for MEZZO-SOPRAN, BARITONE and PIANO Originally conceived as an integral recital for one voice and piano, "CANTARES DE VIDA" attempts to bring the listener closer to the astonishing richness of Spain's musical and poetic folklore. It does it by means of a selection of melodies and texts extracted from diverse songbooks. This is how "CANTARES DE VIDA" intends to show how Man transmutes into music and poetry the whole of his life cycle: birth, childhood, love, work, joy, pain and death. MUSICAL TREATMENT The popular melodies are respected in their essence. Only in a few cases have been retouched or originated variants with the sole purpose of avoiding the repetition of too short motifs. The harmonization and instrumental enveloping of the songs has sought to surround the melody with a context that - emerging above all from the purely musical suggestions of each theme - contributes to create the right expressive atmosphere for each situation. Script and music by ERNESTO MASTRONARDI on melodies and texts from Spanish folklore. "CANTARES DE VIDA" was premiered on August 8, 1998 at the "Margarita Xirgu" Theater in Buenos Aires with the participation of singers VIRGINIA CORREA DUPUY and VICTOR TORRES, the author at the piano and stage direction by MARCELO LOMBARDERO.
