emmy is a PhD student (abd) in the School of Social Work at McMaster University, and a bookseller at a social justice oriented independent book shop. emmy is a trans enby settler, who grew up in Newfoundland, but now splits their time between Toronto, Ontario, and Denver, Colorado. In their doctoral program, emmy conducts research on social work with other-than-human animals. They are also a member of Re:searching for LGBTQ2S Health, based out of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto, a team that conducts community-based research to understand physical, emotional, and mental health experiences of LGTBQ2S+ people. emmy also loves spending time with their adopted greyhounds and cats, and enjoys emergent digital technology, film photography, snail mail, roller derby, and… obviously, reading.
