The hospitality industry the world over is facing some incredibly troubling times due to the outbreak of COVID-19. In the UK, people have been told not to go to bars and restaurants but there has been no mandate to close our businesses. This impacts every single bar and restaurant, especially the small, independent places. With no mandated closures, venues cannot claim for loss of their livelihoods and incomes on their insurance. The government currently has no plan for compensation and the unfortunate reality is that businesses will be forced to lay off staff and close permanently. In order to survive, the industry must adapt as best we can within legal parameters to ensure not only the survival of our venues but also the survival of our staff and communities. That's why we've signed up to Ko-Fi. Not only so our neighbourhood joint can survive this pandemic but also as a way to grow our support network and find ways of paying the kindness forward. For every cocktail you donate, £5 will go towards reducing visiting guests bills by up to £25.
