My name is Thereza Lituma and I am a mezzo-soprano! I am currently working towards a Master's degree in Vocal Performance and Literature at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with research focuses in Quechua and Andean art song/opera repertoire. Some fun facts about me: I began my career as a freelance church musician at the age of 15 years old, however, I have been making musical noises since the first week I was born ("oo"ing on pitch to be exact). I am the daughter of South American immigrant parents, from Brazil and Ecuador. As a child, I always dreamed of being a mermaid. When I saw my first opera at 17 (Rusalka, on a field trip to the Lyric Opera), I fell in love with the art form; and thus finally found my mermaid fins. In my spare time, I enjoy drinking bubble tea (a delicious Taiwanese drink with tapioca pearls. Thank you for your consideration and support! (:
