Welcome to my page! My name is Brenda Wada, and I created, Wada Ink, which combines my two passions writing and creating art. I am also a mother of a son with Autism and a daughter that was born with cancer. When my children were younger, I looked for books to read to them about both Autism and cancer. The children's books that I found made me sad and ultimately made my kiddos sad too. I wanted to create lighthearted children's books about both of these tough subjects that would be fun to read.
My first book is about my son with Autism, "Because I'm Awesome, A Trail of Fun." I am so excited that it will be out soon! The next book in the series tackles the sensory issue of noise, with the subtitle, "Too Loud." I feel that these are relatable books without being heavy or sad.
I am also working on some books about my daughter's journey with pediatric cancer. She was born with bilateral retinoblastoma, which is cancer in both eyes. Her treatment lasted 3 years and I am happy to report she is healthy and doing well. Unfortunately, she was not able to keep her left eye and now has a prosthetic eye. One of the books, "Big Eye, Litte Eye," tells the story about her "fake eye." The other book I am working on, "Cancer Warrior; Wise Princess" is the heartfelt story of her journey. This too is on the lighter side without being sad. (I used to bawl like a baby reading some of the other cancer books to my kids.)
I am seeking assistance as I bring my work to life. I feel that there is a need for these books as they tell a story, educate people and bring joy to families along the way. If you feel the same, please support me.
Thank you so much!
