Covering Independents Day at the next federal election entails a lot of travel over vast distances. I need to be able to pay for petrol, fares and accommodation. The target amount will cover the next 4 weeks of the campaign. I'll revise that once I have a clearer idea what the back end of the campaign looks like on the ground.
My name's Wayne Jansson and I've been reporting elections for No Fibs since, Cathy McGowan won the federal seat of Indi from Liberal powerbroker, Sophie Mirabella in 2013. In 2019 in response to the growing number of community backed independents, No Fibs named our coverage Independents Day. Our aim at No Fibs is to provide on the ground reporting - give our readers a sense of what's happening in these campaigns and what's driving them on a local level. At No Fibs we're all volunteers and paying to provide the coverage has always been difficult for me - the proliferation of strong campaigns and my expanded role means I have to find funding. The money will pay for travel and accommodation expenses.
