The USPS does not provide an allowance for uniforms until after 90 days, and only then it is about $500 each year. This isn't enough to cover the grossly overpriced uniform pieces that letter carriers need, especially when starting with nothing. My route is 90% walking (over 15 miles each day), and Hurricane Ian showed how unprepared I actually was to be outside all day. This goal is for the purchase of a uniform long raincoat ($155), waterproof uniform pants ($255), and rain cape ($95).
