My dad has been struggling keeping up with bills and expenses since my mom passed away suddenly in 2019. We've made some progress in the past year, but we still have some issues to tackle: -The HVAC is still broken (donations from last year had to go to unpaid utility bills) -Car repairs -Increasing interest on bills My dad had been working nonstop to catch up financially but can't afford to take time off to complete some of these tasks, so I'm hoping I can raise money to give him a boost!
I'm Sooyong! I am a passionate fan of Uta no Prince-sama, and my love for the series has led me to contribute to the English-speaking fan community in various ways, from translation to hosting shopping services, even creating spreadsheets! I'm also a cosplayer under the name "schizoalias," and an occasional artist.
When I came back to the U.S. in 2015 after working in Japan for five years, I spent my free time absorbing everything UtaPri-related. In 2016, I started a Tumblr specifically as an outlet for my thoughts (and humor). A few months later I started posting translations and started my translation blog. My follower count took off and the next thing I knew, I was posting translations from written works, news, and merchandise! I even hosted several shopping services to help people purchase items from Japan! My passion has also spilled over into organizing cosplay gatherings at local events, making "itabags," and running panels at conventions about itabags as well as online shopping--things I may have never done if I had never become a fan of the series. As much as I love contributing to the fandom, it does take up a LOT of my free time. The overseas community is quite scattered, and the number of translators and Japanese-speaking fans in the fandom are few, so it's a lot of ground to cover for those of us who choose to contribute.
