BBC Micro Bot

It’s amazing what people create in one tweet of code for a 1980s home computer! BBC Micro Bot runs your tweet as BBC BASIC. A talented, friendly community has grown around it and created over 10,000 programs. We’ve also just launched an amazing 3D BBC Micro Simulator that you can run programs (and also games!) in. BBC BASIC was created in 1981 by Sophie Wilson for the BBC Micro, a computer which inspired a generation to code in the UK. She later used BBC BASIC to design the ARM architecture - now the most widely used CPU architecture on the planet. BBC Micro Bot was created by Dom Pajak to make this historically significant tech more accessible. It’s based on emulators and support from Matt Godbolt and Chris Evans and with shaders by Paul Malin on VirtualBeeb. It wouldn't be possible without all the contributions of the BBC Micro Bot community! Support our Ko-Fi this season and BBC Micro bot posts a personalized snowflake for you on Twitter! All donations in December go to charity; Shelter UK, Second Harvest Silicon Valley, and Médecins Sans Frontières. BBC Micro Bot is a collaborative open source project named after classic computer and is not endorsed by or affiliated with the British Broadcasting Corporation.
