Until recently I was being imprisoned by abusers. I finally escaped only for them to try to get the cops to kill both me and my therapist. After three months I finally got approved for an apartment! That said, all my remaining possessions can fit in two trash bags. Any further donations or profits will go towards things like a mattress and basic kitchen supplies.
My name is Gene (he/they). I'm a Black Native artist. I'm also queer and disabled. I'm a Jewish anti-zionist. I grew up sewing and making art with my grandparents and then learned beadwork as an adult. It's currently my main special interest and primary artform. My other passions include (but are not limited to) plants, birdwatching, writing, and my cat, Honey.
I primarily create Native applique beading, but also embroidery, drawings, and paintings. I especially like working with traditional materials like antler, shells, and crystals. I also enjoy making little references to fandom like oranges for Our Flag Means Death or an acorn for The Hobbit.
