All of Life Show

The All of Life Show is a podcast hosted by Stewart and Alycia White. The aim of the show is to expose every area of life to the light and power of the gospel of Jesus Christ. There is nothing in this world that can claim independence from God, no matter how much some might insist it is so. Speaking of Jesus, Paul says in Colossians 1:15-17, "He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." What an incredible claim! Jesus is the image of the invisible God! Jesus is the "Firstborn of all creation". This term was used, not to indicate birth, but birthright. He has the birthright over all things. Paul goes on to say that Jesus created all things, both in heaven and on earth, both visible and invisible, including dominions, rulers, and authorities; they all answer to Him, because they have been created THROUGH Him and FOR Him. In fact, He's over all things, and everything is held together by HIM. Think that over for a second; Jesus is the one holding everything together. There is literally nothing that exists outside of His authority. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the true story of God's plan of redemption. In the beginning, God created everything, and it was good. He then created the first man, Adam, and the first woman, Eve, and he said they were VERY good. Mankind was the only created thing that God called "Very good". He put the man and woman in a perfect garden called Eden. At this time, there was no sin, no death, and no destruction. God gave them everything for this good and their use, but there was one tree from which God told them not to eat; the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, for in the day they would eat from it, they would die. Shortly after this, we're introduced to one called the Serpent. Scripture says that he was more crafty than any beast of the field, and he set about to deceive Eve. In his craftiness, he took a lie and wove it into the truth. He convinced Eve that God didn't want them to eat from the tree, not because they would die; rather, it was because God knew they would be like Him, knowing good and evil. Eve, seeing that the fruit looked good to her eyes, and tasty to her flesh, was ultimately conned into eating it because she wanted to be God. Adam, her husband, sat by and watched her do it, letting her be the guinea pig. When he saw that she didn't immediately die, he, too, took the fruit and ate. They didn't drop dead immediately, but death immediately set in. The perfect world had just been infected and infested by sin. Adam and Eve knew something was wrong, but didn't fully grasp it; all they knew was that they were , so they tried to cover their own shame with fig leaves. When they heard God in the Garden, they hid themselves among the trees. God, Who knows everything, still called out to them and said, "Where are you?" In some of the most heart-wrenching words in scripture, Adam responded, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was ; so I hid myself.” God immediately asks them, "“Who told you that you were ? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”. Rather than owning up to it, Adam, in his newly fallen state, began to cast blame. He blamed the Woman whom God had given Him, which ultimately was Him blaming God. God turned toward Eve and asked if this was true. Eve responded by blaming the Serpent, saying, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” Turning to the Serpent, God said, “Because you have done this, Cursed are you more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you will go, And dust you will eat All the days of your life; And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel.” Then to Eve He said, “I will greatly multiply Your pain in childbirth, In pain you will bring forth children; Yet your desire will be for your husband, And he will rule over you.” Finally, turning to Adam He said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat from it’; Cursed is the ground because of you; In toil you will eat of it All the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall grow for you; And you will eat the plants of the field; By the sweat of your face You will eat bread, Till you return to the ground, Because from it you were taken; For you are dust, And to dust you shall return.” This was the beginning of the fall, where the curse of sin went into effect. God then cast the man and the woman out of Eden, because there was another tree within the garden which, if they were to eat, they would live forever in their sin. Scripture says, Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, knowing good and evil; and now, he might stretch out his hand, and take also from the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden, to cultivate the ground from which he was taken. So He drove the man out; and at the east of the garden of Eden He stationed the cherubim and the flaming sword which turned every direction to guard the way to the tree of life. Sin had come, and instead of making men into gods, it ended up separating them from God. When it would seem like all hope was lost, God had a plan. In fact, God even alluded to this plan when he spoke directly to the Serpent, saying, "And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise him on the heel." It's a curious thing that God spoke of the woman's seed, no? He also said that the Serpent would be bruised on the head by the Seed of the Woman, although, the Serpent would also bruise Him on the heel. This is the first allusion to the Messiah. One who would come and set straight what was made crooked. One who would fix what the Serpent had set into motion. He would come, born of a woman, not trapped by the curse of Adam, and He would redeem His creation, especially mankind. In 1 Corinthians 15:20-27, Paul says, "But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep. For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ’s at His coming, then comes the end, when He hands over the kingdom to the God and Father, when He has abolished all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign until He has put all His enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be abolished is death. For He has put all things in subjection under His feet. But when He says, “All things are put in subjection,” it is evident that He is excepted who put all things in subjection to Him." The first Adam brought death, but the last Adam, Christ Jesus, makes all alive. This is the promise that was made from the beginning, and this is the hope that we have, if we have truly received and accepted this message in faith. Jesus Christ is Lord and God, and we worship and serve Him. He was born of a virgin, lived a perfect and sinless life, died the death we deserved, defeating death, and rising from the grave on the third day. He was seen by many witnesses over many days, and at the end of that time, He ascended into heaven and was seated at the right hand of the Father, where He makes intercession for us. This is the God Whom we worship, this is the God we serve. How can we not offer up everything to Him in worship and adoration? He made a way when there was no other way; He made the impossible, possible! He redeemed us from eternal separation and eternal damnation. When the Serpent thought that he could wound God by making His creation turn against Him, God took those wounds and turned them around to be the very thing that worked to accomplish our salvation! All of Life belongs to Him. Let us live our lives rejoicing in, and reflecting out, the life that Christ now lives in us.
