I’m Kerdisha, 25 years old As a young feminist artist, I want to showcase my art and have my voice heard. I think society has to change the way we think. I believe changing the way we view men and women is the most important thing, teaching boys from a young age to respect women and view them as more than an object or something to sexualise. I believe that teaching young boys and men how to properly treat women and see them differently will make it a safer place for women. I believe it’ll also help men's mental health and we can move to a more equal place.I believe the blame and responsibility falls on women unfairly. It’s what can women do to be safer; Carry pepper spray, clutch your keys, don’t drink too much, don’t out alone after dark, don’t wear something revealing.Doing those things may make women safer but women shouldn’t have to over think everything and change how they are and live in fear. Instead of putting the responsibility of safety on women, we should teach men and boys how to act safer towards women.I believe in challenging society's views on beauty. We hold women to unrealistic standards, shaming one body to promote the other. "gross she doesn't shave" "eww shes over weight" "she's too skinny she should eat more". It never stops! no one will ever be "perfect/Beautiful" to society as the standards constantly change, never for the better. I believe every body is unique, perfect and exactly as it's meant to be. Whichever way we live our life is our choice. our bodies are nature we need to stop shaming each other. Lastly although it doesn't directly affect us in the UK it is prevalent all over the world where women don't have body autonomy. We fight for all women, we raise awareness for all women. Abortion should be legal. It is important to guarantee the human rights, survival and well-being of women. Making it illegal ignores a couple of many human rights: the rights to privacy, rights to life, right to non-discrimination and the rights to health. Being able to make our own decisions about our health, body and sexual life is a basic human right. It’s not the government’s place to dictate our bodies! These are a few of the topics I'm passionate about!
