About
Andrea Lucrecia Richardson (she/they) is an artist, writer, educator and anthropologist from Memphis, Tennessee. She is a PhD student in Africa and African Diaspora Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. In her research, she explores resistance, healing strategies, and Black feminist epistemologies, especially as these are articulated in spiritual practices throughout the African diaspora. Her bachelor’s degree is in anthropology and hispanic studies. She taught Spanish and African-American History in public and public charter schools in her hometown of Memphis for five years before moving to Austin for graduate school. In her spare time she likes to watch animated series and take pictures of her cat, Bean.
