Our fist ghoul is to start creating our practical effects monsters from Candy Rot, his infected radioactive mutant zombies to alien creatures.
Atomic Monster Magazine's very own Dr. Shriek is writing/directing a 80s throwback horror movie called "Candy Rot", featuring practical effects monsters, zombies and aliens. We're collaborating with makeup effects artist/monster mask maker Kyle Glencross (Psycho Gorman, The Umbrella Academy), and horror punk band The Anti-Bodies to bring you something unlike you've seen before. The Story: On Halloween night a group of horror movie watching teenage friends who call themselves the "Midnight Society of the Jack-o-Lantern", enter a local pumpkin patch farm. When they watch a space ship crash after being shot down, they dare their friend Marshall to enter the craft. What the teen finds some infected alien prisoners, one that's almost dead attacks him. After being brutally attacked the teen falls into the pumpkin patch, and starts to mutate into a hidious pumpkinhead monster, which they name Candy Rot. What follows the group of friends is a nightmare of blood-soaked terror, where they band together in hopes to save their town from Candy Rot, and his mutated zombie victims before it's too late. Our Inspirations: Candy Rot is a movie made by Monster Kids who love horror, and grew up during the 80s watching movies that featured over the top makeup effects, and iconic creatures created by some of our favorite makeup effects artists including; Stan Winston, Rick Baker, KNB, Steve Johnson to Rob Bottin. They're amazing monsters, and splatter effects in Fright Night, Night of the Demons, Night of the Creeps, The Monster Squad, Pumpkinhead, and The Howling is what gets us excited. So, of course we're drawing inspiration from all of this, while tying to come up that's familiar, yet something new. How will the funds be used? Making a movie with lots of practical effects monsters, and gore effects can can be pretty expensive, but luckily we know how to take a small budget, and make something really fun, and creative.. Everything we raise will go into everything from practical effects, visual effects, music and post production.
