"Memories of a man once there..." is a project I am doing about my father. He died when I was three years old. This piece of work will be my way of honoring him. I was inspired by the the snowman (Walking in the air.). The snowman experiences all sort of adventures with the little kid. Just google flying snowman, and you will probably know it. But instead of me finding a snowman. I will find a portal and a suitcase and a hat. Through that portal I will experience memories I have never had.
Cristian Geelen is mainly an analog photographer from the Netherlands. Born on October 17th, 1982. As a person he is fascinated by humans. What they do, what they feel, what they say. And even more so important. Who they really are. Influenced by the all-time greats by the likes of James Nachtwey, Joseph Koudelka, Sebastiao Salgado, He decided to tell his own photo stories... Some of them led him to document the life in Israel and the Palestinian territories, other times it led me to capture the beautiful souls of the people in Iran... Most of his work is from those kinds of journeys and is documentary based.

Hey everyone! Thank you for dropping by on my Ko-Fi page. My name is Cristian Geelen and I am photographer from the Netherlands. I create most of my work analog and therefore most of the time I can be found in my darkroom. Traveling is in my blood so if I can create art while traveling I am in my element. But creating work back-home has become part of my repertoire too. I am working on four projects at the moment. Two abroad. Two here in the Netherlands. And one of those is a conceptual photography project about the death of my father. The working title for that will be "Memories of a man once there..." In a world of instant gratification I am on the other hand a big believer in long term and long form projects. Long is not a month... So you can imagine how much work goes into putting a proper project together. Also art (not just photography) is meant to be enjoyed in physical form. Prints, installations, live... Not on a 6" inch screen. You need to see, feel, and experience art in all it's raw emotions... If you share that same philosophy and you are interested interested to help me backing and funding my projects this is the one of many ways to do it.
