Today education has become a service. You can literally press a couple of buttons from your phone and access knowledge. This simplicity is great for the income of online schools, but it is bad for student motivation. Every year I see fewer and fewer students who are actually willing to learn. The ease of access to courses gives them the mistaken impression that gaining knowledge will be just as easy.
Unfortunately, the process of accessing knowledge has become easier, but the process of acquiring knowledge itself has not. There is still no technology for knowledge replication: taking a flash drive out of one head and inserting it into another. It takes effort to really learn something. You are responsible for the outcome of learning.
