The Hypocrite Reader is an online leftist magazine founded in Brooklyn in 2011. We now publish biannually, each January and July, and every issue is centered around a theme. In the 97 issues since our founding, we've run essays from the personal to the theoretical on politics, history, culture, and science, as well as poems, short stories, and artworks. What we look for is contentious writing that's useful and unexpected and that changes the way we think and feel. Such writing is rare and valuable. It often requires research and always demands careful thought. The Hypocrite Reader is run by a volunteer team of editors, and we are committed to paying our contributors. Donations through Ko-Fi are NOT anonymous.
