Printing books is expensive, and getting more so. Sometimes we pay for the first run by raising the money on Unbound. But when stocks get low, and we need to print a second or—hurrah—third run, then we have to find the cash up front, which can be a challenge without reserves to call on. Inkandescent were founded in 2016 by Justin David and Nathan Evans to shine a light on diverse voices underrepresented in mainstream publishing. We were shortlisted for Small Press of the Year in the British Book Awards 2022.
