Invisible Women are an archive activist feminist collective who seek out and champion the work of women and filmmakers with marginalised identities who have been overlooked, un-credited or left out of the history of cinema. By drawing attention to these forgotten stories, we aim to reinsert female voices into the story of film. We work independently to research, curate and write about the work of overlooked, underrated or forgotten filmmakers. This work can be time consuming and resource heavy. All the current members of IW have day jobs and we balance our (precarious) work as freelancers in the film and art sector with our commitment to the collective. Any donations will go towards supporting the work of the collective - towards paying for some of the time we commit to the project, to help us pay contributors to write for the IW website and to subsidise the screenings we organise.
