Jonathan Pizarro is a Gibraltarian writer living in London. He studied Creative Writing at Brunel University, where he was mentored by Bernardine Evaristo, who encouraged him to explore the intersections between Queerness and his cultural identity. Other themes in his work include borders, immigration, language, breaking Mediterranean stereotypes, and the aftermath of Empire. His short fiction has been featured in Popshot, Litro, Untitled: Voices, and Queerlings, amongst others, and shortlisted for the Aurora Prize for Writing. He writes a regular non-fiction series, Exiliado, which discusses being Queer, Gibraltarian, and an immigrant in the UK. He has collaborated with Out on the Page to run successful writing courses, and co-edit their forthcoming anthology, Queer Writing for a Brave New World. He is working on his first novel, Sons of Lot, set in the Gibraltar of 1994.
