Brought on by an abusive childhood and many years in high stress professions, I live with mental and physical disabilities. Making a crust of art and writing was difficult before the pandemic as well but self-isolation dried up many of my sources of income. My husband took early retirement to protect me but, as a result, his pension is very small. We now live two people on the equivalent of $700 per month. We used up our savings paying for electricity the winter before last, and the sky-rocketing inflation has brought the price of electricity to mind-blowing levels. Living through summers without heat or hot water is one thing, but a Swedish winter without electricity is not doable. My applications for benefits denied, I have applied for any jobs that I could reasonably do, as well as grants and so forth, but have had no luck so far. So I'm asking you, Dear Reader, please help us see the winter through!
