Moana Vā seeks to amplify the voices and lived experiences of Pacific Rainbow+ plus (+) communities. Moana Vā was established to identify and address the needs for Pacific Rainbow+ LGBTQIA+ MVPFAFF+ (mahu, vakasalewa, palopa, fa’afafine, akava’ine, fakaleiti (leiti), fakafifine) communities in the Canterbury Region. Ours is a vision where we support the mental health and wellbeing Pacific Rainbow + community members of all ages by connecting and fostering friendships. We offer a safe space that enables opportunities for collaboration, mentorship and the sharing of narratives. E.g., connecting our Pacific Rainbow+ youth with a variety of our Rainbow leaders whose lived experiences have enabled them to flourish, and explore the concept to become a better version of themselves.
