My Old Kentucky Home Sanctuary is a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit organization. We do not receive state or federal funds. We rely on donations from the public to carry out our mission. Every donation goes to animal care. The rescue has ran privately since the late 1990s. I paid for everything out of pocket; most of the time caring for over 50 different animals at a time. I decided I wanted to expand to help more animals and applied for nonprofit status. I received nonprofit 501 (C) (3) status in 2020.
