I host and maintain Newfoundland and Labrador's first Mastodon instance, nfld.me. Mastodon is a federated social network system, built by thousands of hobbyists and companies using independently controlled and managed servers. Federated means that the network is not controlled by any one entity, but that each instance (server) owner manages their own instance, and that instance connects to several others, and those connect to several others, and so on. It is like Twitter (micro-blogging) 🤝 e-mail (decentralized). I have loved computers and technology ever since I was a child, and love to spend time on projects I am passionate about. nfld.me is one such project, and I maintain it because I enjoy administrating servers, networks, and websites ❤️ It is unpaid work, so I rely on donations to pay for my time, hardware, infrastructure changes, and the electricity and Internet bills.
