Throughout the pandemic in 2020 and 2021 (and maybe 2022?) I have been shielding due to an underlying fault with my immune system. One of the things that has kept me going, creatively at least, are the regular challenges that Guardian artist and modern day Hogarth, Martin Rowson has been issuing on Twitter. This image was created in response to his call for modern versions of William Hogarth's 'Gin Lane' currently residing at the Tate. I built a 3D model of Gin Lane complete with an attempt at Hogarth's shading techniques and depopulated it to reflect our Lockdown streets. The addition of a Deliveroo scooter delivering Gin is my homage to the various brave delivery drivers who have kept me drunk for over a year. The print is a limited edition of 75 A3, numbered, signed and framed in a similar black frame to the one that holds Hogarth's and is printed on natural off-white high quality heavyweight 315gsm fine art paper with a strong and bold water-colour style texture. I've never done a limited edition print, so you might end up with one of the only 75 I ever do :-)
