AVAILABLE NOW This is a copy of an obscure little 13th century painting that is part of the collection of the Basilica of St. Francis in Asissi. It's very typical of the Italo-Byzantine style of the early 13th century ("Duecento") period and very typically Umbrian. To honour the "rustico" feel of the original and the down-to-earth character of St. Francis, I've kept the graphite drawing deliberately rough, with the marks visible, in contrast to the much more refined style of the 14th century, ("Trecento"). I'm offering prints taken from a high resolution (300dpi) scan of the original. A final finished painting is to come. (The original is pictured here for comparison.) The text on the book is Galatians 6:17 "From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus."
