About Katia: Born in the city of Puebla, soprano Katia Arellano recently completed her Bachelor's Degree in Music, specializing in vocal performance, at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla under the guidance of teacher Ruth Ek Tun. She has honed her stagecraft through participation in choral productions alongside the Orquesta Filarmónica 5 de Mayo, including notable works such as W.A. Mozart's "Così fan tutte," Georges Bizet's "Carmen," and Giacomo Puccini's "Madama Butterfly," under the direction of maestro Fernando Lozano. These collaborative endeavors have graced esteemed venues such as the Auditorio de la Reforma and the Auditorio Metropolitano in Puebla, as well as the CENART and Bellas Artes in Mexico City. Furthermore, she has secured victory twice in the Internal Singing Competition hosted by the Faculty of Arts at BUAP, earning solo roles in Gabriel Fauré's Requiem and Johann Sebastian Bach's Magnificat in D. Additionally, she has achieved semifinalist status in the prestigious "Katzarava International Festival" competition. Katia has enriched her artistry through master classes led by renowned figures such as maestro Luis Ledesma, tenor Enrique Guzmán, maestro Leandro Marziotte, and maestro José Luis Ordóñez, among others. With a decade of experience as a vocal instructor, she has imparted her expertise to students across a spectrum of proficiency levels, ranging from novices to advanced music degree candidates.
