Tan-Renga/Tanka Chapbook Series "Editor's Nole: Book 7, the place where they come across the moon, showcases those with a passion for collaborative writing from around the world, including twenty-two poets from nine countries. This book, like the others in the series, features five-line collaborative tan-renga or tanka in which one writer provides three lines, and the other responds with two lines to complete the poem. In this form, the responding poet adds to the poem in a way that expands, condenses, parallels, or opposes what the opening three lines present. These poems combine the artistry of two individuals, where similar or dissimilar experiences and perspectives are interwoven into one entity. The result should be interesting and innovative whenever possible, though many good poems can pass with barely doing either. The title comes from one of my favorite lines in the book written by Japanese poet Shoko Kanenari. It's a romantic line that is unhurried and languid in its delivery. We don't find out where the geese are until the last word, which also creates a sense of mystery. In these forms, we often don't know where our writing will lead us until the poem is complete. I enjoyed reading everyone's work and hope to see many more of your collaborations in the future. If this is your first time experiencing these kinds of poems, find a partner and have some fun!"
