Are you a musician, artist, or producer hoping to add some Japanese flare to your music? This is just what you've been looking for! If you've been listening to Japanese music for any amount of time, I'm sure you've noticed that it sounds quite different from Western music, but figuring out why is the hard part. Even if you're well versed with music theory, following western music patterns will not get you anywhere. It's also impossible to find information or chord progressions outside of the beloved Jpop/Anime progression, IV-V-iii-vi. When I picked up guitar again, I knew I wanted to make Japanese sounding music, but I was frustrated, lost, and confused for months! I didn't have the skills to just play around, and as a logical learner, I'm most satisfied when I understand the hows and whys of something, so I was on a mission to figure out what makes Japanese music sound Japanese. With a couple Youtube videos, I was put on the right track. Knowing that the "I" chord doesn't always have to be present, nor at the beginning or end of a progression, helped a bunch, but I was still limited. With my limited Japanese, I started digging on the Japanese side of Youtube and the internet to find more useful progressions and examples of it being used in songs. I have compiled 10 useful progressions in this book! Not only that, I go over what music progressions are, harmonic functions, and other tips you can use today to create more interesting and creative chord progressions. Consider this my book of secrets that I'm willing to share because I know you won't find anything like it elsewhere. Whether you buy this book or not, be sure to join my "Let's Study Japanese Music" group on Facebook :)
