青花 Porcelain Socks feature stranded colourwork motifs inspired by the Blue and White Pottery (青花瓷, or Qing Hua Ci, see Wikipedia) from ancient China in the 14th century. The socks are knitted from the toe up with an afterthought heel. Two colours of fingering weight yarn are used: white and dark blue, which echo the paint colours in these porcelains. Four motifs appear on the foot and cuff, which are the character “回”, the lotus on a vine, the Ruyi scepter, and the fish scale. More explanations on the meanings of these motifs can be found in the cultural notes included in the download. SIZES S (M) L (XL) The sample shown in the photos is in size M.
