'Brown Clay' is a poetry book written by Isabel Villarreal, who is a Black/Latina American queer artist and writer. This collection has themes of identity, self love, sex, relationships, trauma, and healing through the lens of Black liberation and empowerment. Isabel, she/her pronouns, is an online activist for Black, Indigenous, and other POC in the LGBTQ+ community, Black Lives Matter, and mental health. She creates digital infographics, social media protests, and tags for the community. She is deeply committed to social change and representation. This is her first poetry book and she hopes her work will resonate. Follow along on this journey of self discovery through spirituality and dream-like imagery. Isabel is a spiritual practitioner in her personal life, therefore involved in connecting with shadow work as a tool for healing. Therefore, some of her work is the result of that. She hopes you can relate to her experiences, or learn new perspectives from her poems.
