As you are well aware, these are bizarre times for creators! If you found value in the webinar - & we hope you do as we spent some time/energy/effort prepping them! - please make a donation that feels right/affordable. Suggested donation per session is a $6 coffee, which you can double to treat both presenters, or triple for bonus karma. Our target amount is based on each student buying us each a coffee (oat milk latte in an indie cafe prices - ha!) for each webinar. Dare to dream!
A fierce comic and all-round-relentless entertainer, Shimmy Isaac’s unique brand of humour sprung from South Africa’s vibrant multicultural arts scene. Her sold-out run of one-woman shows - five in total - have left indelible marks with diverse audiences in London, Edinburgh, New York, Amsterdam, Chicago, and her hometown of Cape Town. Trained in acting and filmmaking, Shimmy pays it forward by returning to her alma mater AFDA to lecture. Well-known across S.A. as an on-air personality and for her roles in hit shows Traffic and Sara se Geheim, Shimmy’s true passion is stand-up. From roast battles to emceeing and headlining - Shimmy’s comedy tackles familial and national politics; and speaks harsh, funny truths about race and gender. Her sitcom pilot ‘Frieda,’ which is loosely based on her childhood, was recently produced for kykNET, and her first feature screenwriting credit for the rom-com ‘First Thursdays,’ will soon follow.
