I am a recovering academic who loves teaching students, teachers, business owners, influencers, and all who want to learn about the indissoluble union between human flourishing and freedom. After earning a Ph.D. from the School of Politics & Economics at the Claremont Graduate University, I taught at Claremont McKenna College, Hillsdale College, and George Mason University, among other schools. My purpose is to remind Americans what citizenship means, and requires, if citizens are to live freely and well. My goal also is to help others — perhaps YOU? — to become wiser, better equipped to live a good, happy, productive, prosperous, and purposeful life. My method is to bring history alive with riveting story-telling while adding insights from moral and political philosophy, economics, modern social science research, and the great books of Western Civilization that explore the ultimate human questions. Through Speakeasy Ideas, I am now reaching a larger audience by writing, speaking, and developing curricula for schools. If you are willing to help me help others — or to help me help you — I say: Thank you.
