I was born in Derbyshire in the 60's leaving school at 16 to work as a clerical assistant. At the age of 32, I went to Sheffield Hallam University, as a mature Fine Art Student then at the age of 53, I returned to Uni again to do an MA in Knitting at NTU, 2016–2018. In between, I worked in Event Production, Contemporary Dance touring management, taught English and worked in Project roles in Higher Education. For years, I have been passionate about combining contemporary colours in traditional Fair Isle knitting designs, writing and travel. I've travelled widely, crossing China and Tibet in 2005 in a lorry, which changed how I viewed the world. In Sept, 2020, I bought a 200 year old croft house in Shetland. I'm writing a non-fiction book on my life chasing a dream to live in Shetland, the changing landscapes, knitting and colour and finally, why I had to leave my island life.
